In 1999, three couples began meeting together to pray for something that did not yet exist—a contemporary, seeker-sensitive church in the heart of the north-of-Portland community. Two years later, in October 2001, White Pine Community Church held its first Sunday service at North Yarmouth Memorial School. Then, as now, a mix of pre-Christians, new Christians and seasoned Christians came together to express their love for God and to explore how the teachings of Jesus applied to their everyday lives.
We began meeting at Greely Middle School in 2007, and we acquired a between-Sundays Ministry Center in 2011. The pandemic of 2022 moved our Sunday services to the Ministry Center, where, in addition to two Sunday services, we now produce a live stream for those who cannot attend in-person. We have a staff of four, six elders and dozens of volunteers who are dedicated to serving the diverse mix of 300+ adults, youth and children who attend White Pine every week.
